Established as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2002, Advocates for Social Justice and Development (ASJD) then known as Advocates for Vulnerable Aid (AVA) is a non-partisan and non-profit making Civil Society Organization (CSO) that is legally registered with the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (SLANGO) and the Kono District and City Councils.
Principal amongst the reasons why we were formed by then was to provide advocacy and vocational skills training for Internally Displaced Persons especially youths as a means to reintegrate them into society through economic empowerment geared towards their employability and self-reliance.

We are committed to enhancing the capacities of vulnerable groups of persons in rural communities to enable them take the lead in promoting both their personal and collective development through economic empowerment, advocacy, collaboration, research, skills development etc. in a bid to promote access to social justice for all.
